His Holiness Visits the Migrant Families from Mosul in Qaraqosh
On Saturday evening, His Holiness visited some families from Mosul who are currently in Baghdeeda – Qaraqosh. Upon his arrival to St. Goerges church in Baghdeeda, His Holiness was received by Mor Youhanna Boutros Moushe, Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Mosul along with many priests and laymen.

In the church, His Holiness presided over the Vespers (Ramsho). Afterwards, His Eminence Mor Nicodemus Daoud Matti Sharaf pointed out in his speech the great history of the church of Antioch and its patriarch who came to be with his people in their suffering and distress upon their forced displacement from their homes in Mosul.
His Holiness then spoke in Syriac and Arabic saying: I offer prayers for your sake from this blessed church. I had visited you during the siege in 1999, and I return today to be with you in these difficult times when you were forced to leave your homes in Mosul and move to Talleskof, Batnaya and Baghdeeda. I urge you all not to immigrate; staying in our homeland is a reconstruction of your city Mosul and Baghdeeda and all Syriac towns and villages. He added that he is glad to thank the government of Kurdistan for their support and care for the Christians. He concluded by giving his benediction wishing all the success and a safe return to their homes.
